Hi All,
When driving along I can feel the steering wheel stick in my hands when trying to turn ,it then releases as normal .Only a recent occurrence and I have checked the levels on fluids and all okay.Any thoughts would be most appreciated as a long run to Cornwall coming up and it will give some time to hopefully sort it out.

Mine started doing this on Saturday. Looked on here
On it looks like a dry joint from steering wheel.
Look under bonnet and you can see a rod coming from
The steering whheel, and then the joint. Advised to clean
This with a hose, then lubricate with white lithium
Spray grease. Not done mine yet, but that seems worth
A shot.

If you can't fix it book a visit to Allans, Plymouth.

"I have checked the levels on fluids and all okay."

In addition to all the advice already offered it might be worth changing the fluid in the power steering system. This is the same stuff as used in automatic transmissions and should be a clear red colour. If it looks dirty, change it.

It is also worthwhile lubricating the (UJ) universal joint in the cab, you will see it on the steering rod/shaft under the dash.

Hi,

I had the same problem lubricated the universal joint and it was ok for a few weeks then it started to stiffen up again so I bought a new joint when I took the old one off it was shot very stiff in one direction and a fair bit of wear steering feels brand new now :)

Similar thing happened with mine, I gave the uv joint under the bonnet..easy to find just follow steering road down,lol,... a good blasting with hose to clean off muck, then a good squirt with super maintenance spray..wd 40 evaporates too quickly, been fine since, I now give it a few squirts every week or so to keep it lubed, lol.
