Anything electrical I should request as part of conversion

Hi all,

Very excited to say we've just put a deposit on a Bongo MPV, which we plan to have converted by Adam at North Star Conversions. I've been discussing via email with him for ages and we are going for the rear Outback conversion with kitchen, LB/mains hookup and swivel seat.

I'm new to the whole camper experience, so is there anything we need to ask or check is included as part of the conversion? I'm thinking specifically of the electricals, do I need to specify which items I'd want connected to the LB for use while parked up? Also, is there anything I need to ensure is fitted for safety or convenience, e.g. to show the charge level of the LB? Would I need a split charger to ensure that the LB and SB are both charged when driving?

Any advice or guidance gratefully received - can't wait to get out and about!

Thanks

Yes I would provide a list!
L/B with tray, Split charge system, wiring loom to handle radio standbys supply, radio and sockets supply, and both blind circuits, fridge if your having one, cabin lights and any extra lights in conversion on the l/b. Consider asking for extra sockets in body and also in the AFT for 12volts. If you having a hookup then a 12volt supply and charger to charge l/b as well.

My simple answer would be just get it done by someone like Ed at Celtic Motorhomes. He'll no doubt have you covered!

Hi,

You can never have too many 12 sockets. My first Bongo had a pair fitted at high level near the front edge of the sliding door. Very useful for anything you want to run in the awning or up in the AFT. Not got around to fitting a pair in Bongo2 yet.

Likewise, don't skimp on mains sockets either. I have 4 and even that is sometimes a squeeze once you've got a heater, phone / camera / laptop charger, etc plugged in. I've also got 2 x 12v sockets and will shortly be adding 4 x USB sockets for charging various mobile devices.

Maybe a solar panel?
