"Chuffing" corner!

Post by roosmith » Wed Apr 23, 2014 10:51 am

The best way I can describe the latest noise from one corner of my Bongo is "chuffing"! When applying the brakes, the front left makes this noise. Before I jump to the conclusion of warped discs, are there any other likely causes? The discs aren't that old (or not covered that many miles should I say) and I don't get a vibration through the pedal. Could this mean they are only slightly warped? And is it safe to leave if it isn't vibrating yet?

Thanks in advance of your excellent advice!

Keep it simple to start with.... Brake dust is one thing it could be or the caliper pins dry not allowing the brake pad to clear the disc fully hence a slight noise... worth looking for starters.. simple wheel off job, clean up...unbolt the pins separately and lube them/replace...give it a try..
