grotty wind deflectors .... don't be afraid to get stuck in.

I have always kept the wind deflectors on the old bus nice and clean , as unlike the mrs who is rather vertically challenged , I end up looking through them a lot of the time and cant stand it when they go a bit hazy. however when it came back from having some paint I was rather...ummm....peeved , to see that something that had been used in the body shop , possibly panel wipe , had really crazed the surface of the driver side one. in fairness the guy did offer to take it back in and sort it out but with the time and cost of fuel , I said I would sort it myself. so today I armed myself with some wet & dry (600/1000/1500) , perspex polish , finishing compound and a quality wax , I set to work. I went quite gingerly at first but the plastic will take quite a beating and I have removed 99% of the crazing. another going over will bring them right up. so , if yours are a bit past their best , don't be afraid to get stuck in and buff them up. you could possibly go a touch coarser on the production paper to start with but keep everything nice and wet and they should shine up nicely.
