front heater matrix/box

Hi all,
Got a serious issue with hot/cold mixer flap on the heater distribution box under the centre of the dash,a previous owner has sheared off the connecting arm which fits on to the mixer flap spindle and is the interface with the actuator for temperature control, the location of this is in the passenger footwell.Having spent a time looking at the answer to this and engaging a vehicle mechanic, the solution seems to be to replace the heater distribution box as a whole,as it contains four flaps for directional airflow and hot/cold distribution.
Problem is that I can't seem to be able to locate a replacement box from anywhere,I am awiting feedback from Ian M regarding availability of a new box but suspect I would be able to get a usable box from a Bongo that is being broken for spares, not having much luck locating one.
Any help/advice much appreciated, either on how best to effect this repair or where I can source the necessary parts.

Thansk

Is it not possible to drill and tap the sheared rod so that you can extend it to its normal length outside the box ?
I'm thinking that a 3mm aluminium tubular rod could be fashioned to replace the sheared rod and pivot arm all in one, by sawing down the length of tube to remove 2/3 of the tube wall, then bend the remainder over to form the pivot at right angles, whilst the remainder of the tube is cut to provide the required extension outside the box and a small bolt used to attach this to the drilled & tapped stub inside the box ?

Thanks both,I'll give the bongo spares place a go then look at the repair option. Much appreciated :)
