Internal surfboard holder

Hello all,

There's a chap on the vwt4forum that has designed an internal board rack.

I asked him whether it would fit a Bongo and he said:

"They rely entirely on the cutouts in the bodywork structure and the dimensions of the van. they are laminated from birch plywood , which I suppose could be trimmed, but a new rebate would need forming and this would depend on your carpentry skills I guess, but also on how you would fit it safely in the van".

Does anyone know of any alternatives? I'm hoping to avoid a roof rack on an AFT.

Andy

We used to put ours on the floor under the seats, got two boards in down the middle.

Good idea but don't think that will work on the models which have seats that fold towards the side of the van.

Did you have rear seats that were on rails?

We had the rear split seats, I folded them up but had the middle row as per normal.

Thanks. Did think of that but was worried that they would get damaged.

Thanks for your input,

Andy.

I've not had any experience with this, but I'd guess that using the attachment points for the overhead handles in the rear would give you good attachment points to use of you plan to design your own. They're used for things like top lockers.
