Roof Motors - Has Anyone Tried a Strip Down Service of Them

My roof motors are struggling to raise the roof. I've read the very good posts about removing the motors and fully extending the roof manually and re-attaching the motors. I was wondering whether anyone has tried a strip down service of the motors themselves. I got my passenger side folding wing mirror working again after a strip down and clean up of the motor.. after reading a very good post from kirsty.
the worry is that small springs etc may fly out and dissappear into the ether if its dismantled.
Thanks in advance

Try taking it to bits in a washing up bowl, should catch run away bits and bobs, often its a stuck brush and easily fixed on small vehicle motors

Thanks Winchman, Yes good advice I shall use a washing up bowl and proceed with caution and report back.

Have to admit i ended up buying two new motors and i've not regretting the decision. I still have the old motors and plan to strip them down and refurbish them when i get a round tuit. New motors seem to have transformed things and I imagine a good refurbished pair would do likewise. New motors not cheap though!
