ZIG PMS - Battery selector when driving?

Hello all,
I'm back with another non-techie/novice question...
I have a Zig power management system in my conversion, like this:
http://galleryplus.ebayimg.com/ws/web/2 ... 0x1000.jpg I'm wondering which mode I should have the 'Battery Selector' on when driving? I figured 'OFF', so neither the car or leisure battery selected. Is that best or should I in fact select one of the two batteries? I also have a solar panel on the roof feeding the leisure battery and split charge relay if that at all has any relevance!
Many thanks as always
Steve

Hi Steve
The manual says to put in in the "off" position when driving, but I have no idea why you'd want to disconnect your 12v power feeds when driving.
The switch is there to select which battery you use when camping - i.e. you choose to drain your leisure battery or your starter battery. The second option should only be used in emergencies. With the solar I fitted, that shouldn't happen

I'd leave it on "Van" all the time - assuming whoever installed it connected "van" to the leisure battery, and "car" to the starter battery.

Ah cheers Roger! That's what I figured...OFF doesn't serve much of a purpose does it. I haven't used CAR once either. Thanks

I read the manual a bit more, and the PMS3 people say you should switch it to "off" when you are driving so that the alternator charging (from the split charging relay system) can't "interfere" with the PMS3. What they are saying is that they would prefer to not have the alternator sending current to the PMS3.
This is odd because a) it shouldn't really make any difference - perhaps they are worried about big power surges? b) if your fridge is wired through the PMS3 then it gets turned off when you are driving, which is nuts.
I'd still leave it on van!

Thanks buddy, I'll go with van since you have taken the extra effort of reading a manual!

I leave mine on "Van" when I'm driving.
