What kind of wear and tear dolphtec?
If the centre is wearing out then the tyres are inflated too high - the converse if the sides are wearing faster than the centre.
If they are wearing on one side only then the wheel alignment is out causing scrub
If they are "castling", i.e. there are pronounced edges at the front of the tread blocks then a little is to be expected with 4WD but excessive castling is usually a 4WD viscous coupling on its last legs

On a 4x4 with 215 65 R15 96H all round (assuming good condition with the correct tyre pressures - 1/2 laden most of the time) which tyres wear out quickest?
I've got two tyres with 6mm tread & will be buying two (Good) new tyres this week, so I'm trying to find out whether the new one's should go on the front or back to keep the tread depths as even as possible?
Thanks
Chris.

i too have a converted 4x4, and the tyres that were on were all season tyres with tread like new and the fronts on mine needed replacing last week, and the back are still like new.
so i have put some reinforced hankook centum k702, on the front .

just to confuse you all my rears have worn out faster on our 4wd,

might be because ours has the extra weight in the back bearing down on the steering mike...........dont know..
do you have a conversion?

Driven 4wd vehicles for years - car-like ones like Audi Quattro and Subarus tend to wear tyres more evenly than a fwd car (which wears fronts first) or rwd (which wears backs first).
Only done 3k miles in my 4wd Bongo since getting it with new tyres fitted, so no discenable wear yet on the 215/65R15 100H Yokohama C-Drives.

Thanks for the advice. I'm buying Continental Vanco Contact 2 100T so I'll put them on the back. Leaving the Bridgestone 96H on the front. That way the rears can put up with the extra weight hanging over the back (4 bikes & a trailer).
& I'll just replace the fronts as required.
