Southern Softies in Surrey
This year's Southern Softies meeting will be held from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 March in Lingfield in Surrey. This is a member's event and full details can be found here: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... tm#rallies
We have 30 electric pitches available and booking commences on Thursday 16 January at 0930 by phoning 0114-2550836. Please have your membership number or home postcode available when booking.
If it was held now there would be doubts whether the meeting would go ahead: http://www.eastgrinsteadcourier.co.uk/L ... story.html
In case of further flooding, or if the site does not dry out in time then full refunds will be given.
If you don't want to stay overnight you can come along as a day visitor.
See you there!

Anybody doing a Google Maps search will find that the marker appears in the wrong place, its a few hundred yards down the road to the South West and on the south side of the road! The place marked is a house called Long Acres and not the campsite

Will it ever stop raining? The site is flooded again and even though this event is still 6 weeks away the prospects do not look good. Does anyone have any alternative well drained sites in Kent/Surrey/Sussex/Hampshire that can take 30 of us, all with electric hook ups?

Could be worth a phone call, only £15 a night on hard standing, pets welcome and the site has everything including the kitchen sink

I agree with Crazy. Sandyballs is a good site and even more important not by or under a river. The level of waterlogging round here is unbelievable. Even if it stopped raining tomorrow, it will be a long dry out for the fields.

That looks good, especially if you live in the New Forest! The only problem is that I'd say about half of those who have booked for Lingfield are based in East Sussex or Kent so there may be a few grumbles if I move it too far.
I won't do anything yet. There may be something nearer.

I got my swimming certificate at School and a green plastic crocodile which floats.
Seriously Ian the water is not just coming down from the sky, it is coming up from the ground as well. The water table is so high that there are springs coming up through the road bed here. Water pouring out of manholes and underground streams making a bid for freedom. Plus the local reservoir overflowed.
Perhaps you ought to try Manchester as drier

There is also this site http://www.thelimeburners.com/camping.php they might have similar problems however as they are not that far from the river Arun, but we can recommend the site and Pub!

If your local pub was under water I'm certain it would scare you Crazy! Take a look at one of our June watering holes in Bewdley http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-he ... r-26157030. With the river that high I doubt that Lickhill Manor is fairing very well at present but you never know, the rain just might stop by June...crazy uncle gray g wrote: You don't scare me Bongo Lord, I got my water wings in the camper
A look at the Environment Agency at http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/ho ... 42151.aspx indicates localized flooding only at Longacres Camping Park. Type RH7 6LE in the "Find A Location" box. This would make it a bit more hopeful that the site will recover in time.
