Bongo Fury

What three would you fit to assist the Bongo?

I was thinking water temp/volt/oil temp might be the best bet.
Or fit two volts, one for each battery.

Looking around here I've seen boost gauges, but not sure what I'd get out of knowing that.

I'd fit oil pressure instead of oil temperature.

I just have a Volt meter and a engine temp taken from the back of the cylinder head

I've fitted a boost gauge on my everyday car & it's not massively exciting on a turbo diesel as the boost pressure is not as variable as on a petrol engine. Won't tell you anything worth knowing, unless the turbo stops working, but you'll soon spot that.

Any idea as to where you would fit them?
must it be 3 eg a drop down panel

Not unless it can monitor how knackered the rad hoses are or rusty the arches have got

I fitted two small digital volt meters to the top of the clubby hole in the middle, one for each battery. Not the round ones, but looks good. I wired them through a couple of switches so they can be turned off when not camping.

start with the most important one helen, the coolant system pressure gauge, (2 bar) you know, the one that measures the internal pressure in entire system, the one you look at and stop the bongo before it dumps the coolant out of the tank if the pressure gets too high .

As you know, a lot of those gauges were added when we were plotting how the cooling system works ...quite a few years back....
Funnily enough, one that I do find useful, is the one on the bottom hose when doing bleeding....tells you EXACTLY when the stat opens, and when the system is fully working....I wouldn't be without it!...Many of the other gauges are superfluous to general motoring, but I'm using them to assess other projects...
Personal opinion on gauges:
Water temp. Oil pressure, volts, turbo, water pressure.
Just my opinion, but if you have an old classic...and the Bongo is that! , then you need to keep a eye out on the engine....and that list will keep you informed, gauge wise. I'm told that the Bongo ECU is pretty rudimentary, so not all that good at fault finding, so a few "extra" gauges look like a good investment!
