Standard tyres V6

Want to put my original alloys on the van a (V6) but fronts need replacing - they are 195/80 as shown on the sticker in the door shut. Despite the details on the sticker a tyre place insisted these weren't standard bongo tyres and that they only fit 195/70 to bongo fronts. I see many posts on here referring to the 195/70 as standards - can anyone shed any light - is it that 195/80 are specific to the V6 only ?

What have you got on the back? It's easier to have the same size all round.

Thanks Simon

They're as the sticker 215/70r. So I guess this means the overall diameter and hence rolling circumference of my fronts are currently larger than rears (?). I assume that Going from 80s to 70s on the fronts will reduce the rolling circumference and hence increase the speedo reading ? - I have replacement dials and it already reads over so not sure what the best option is. That said most 80s I have found are intended for 4x4 use and are a tad chunky (and usually not in stock which is a bit of a problem - left things til last minute as usual !)

cheers Jim

Put 215/70's on the front and then you'll be able to swap front to back to even out the wear and you can have a full size spare of the size. It won't affect speedo as that is fed by the gearbox. It's only 4WD that you need to be concerned about rolling circumference. I run 215/70 all round on my V6 and you won't have any problems.

Thanks Simon, all makes sense and I remember now reading about the gearbox and speedo - doh ! Re the wheel sizes I run 225 / 50 R18 all round on the RX8 alloys so not really sure why I got my knickersin a twist on this one

Cheers jim
