Driving to town the other day in the bongo, miserably dark afternoon, missus said " Didn't those switches have lights" she was referring to the air con controls on the dash, you know the ones, temp up and down and on the left, the screen clean button, the recirc air button and the others, now I haven't even thought about it,lol but, should they be lit, if so how do I get at the bulbs or whatever and is there a fuse to check first...you would think after 10 years I would know these things, lol.
Just found and printed the fact sheet, tidy, should they be when side lights are on or just when switched on tho.

Hi David
I have the other type of Air Con. , namely the primitive non full climatic, but I expect the principle is similar.
Firstly, there will be a wire (Bowden cable single wire) going to the heater under the bonnet. Disconnect it. Then look in the driver and passenger footwells at the side of the heater...disconnect the cables by popping the clips off.
Now go and sit down, as , like me, you have a bad back!!!! The fascia plate will be held on somehow...on the manual version, there are 2 little holes either side like the radio clips, where you poke a bit old bent wire into the holes and release the clips on the side behind the fascia....go and have a look!...If they have, then you release the front, and pull forward until you can see the bulb holders....
Anyway, if the front hasn't got those clips on your model, do the first bit of disconnecting, and sit down for the evening with a wee dram and wait for someone to come and tell you how the front clips on, and finish the job tomorrow
Cheers
Helen

Hi David
I suspect that your model Climatic will be the same as my basic twin aircon...when you put the lights on, they light up very well.... I replaced my bulbs 9 years ago, and just re-"did" them...world of difference!
Cheers
