Bongo Fury

Can anyone personally recommend any bespoke conversion specialists? We've done an awful lot of research and know what we want. We've contacted a few of the obvious main converters out there and for one reason or another they haven't instilled confidence that they either can do it or want to do it. I've had some ludicrous guesstimates upwards of £8k and while I appreciate getting it bespoke is going to cost a lot more, I am starting to doubt if this is viable. If you take the cost of the base vehicle (£5K) and add the £8k that gives a healthy budget (for dare I say it) for a half decent proper motorhome or even a converted transit with more room and options.

Any advice gratefully received, we want to stick with the Bongo, for all the reasons we all love them but at this rate the only way I'll be keeping it, is if we buy a caravan for £8k and use it for towing!

If you're going for something bespoke then why limit yourself to Bongo converters. How about speaking to some local carpenters?

The negatives of employing a carpenter to do the job is that you need to be very clear what you want from the outset, ideally with plans, and to keep a close eye on the work to ensure it remains what you want. It can take longer as they may not be using pre-cut panels or have templates so there can be a lot of trial and error in tailoring panels to the sides.

One big positive is that they won't know how much a standard conversion costs so they will cost the work at a realistic price rather than at a premium above a standard conversion. £8k seems a ridiculous amount unless your having a jacuzzi fitted.

Unfortunately the jacuzzi just won't fit but the champagne chiller stays

I have an Imperial conversion in mine and its £2500 I think, and I've seen the Clearcut rear and its almost identical.
If I was cashing out for one I'd probably go with the Clearcut.

If you give us some idea of what you want we might be able to advice you better.
I am just about to do another conversion, I draw it all up then get a local kitchen firm to manufacture it, look very professional but its more cost effective
