Bongo Fury

Hi

Has anyone had a similar experience to this....I recently bought a batch of brush on and spray paint from "CarPaintRepair" and I'm disappointed with the quality. My paint code is PT (which according to the list is Chaste White). Now here's the issue....the brush on is a perfect colour match whilst the spray can has a distinct blue tinge and is unusable. I contacted the paint company and they say that the brush on and spray came from the same batch that they custom mixed for my order. They suggested that I shake it harder.....ok, so the spray was left in the warm kitchen overnight and agitated this morning for TEN minutes....same result. Has anyone any suggestions? I've left another email with "CarPaintRepair" and I'll see what their reply is. I've painted a test swatch with both the spray and the brush on and I've suggested that I send it back to them for their comment.

Can anyone suggest another paint supplier, please?

All the paint stocked here in the Bongo Shop is mixed to Mazda Japan specifications (not Mazda UK) and will be an exact match.

Very interesting..do you know what the different specification is ,is there different paint codes for Mazda Japan and Mazda UK paint.

The firm that mixes our paint for us told us that there are 2 separate matching databases that they use, one from UK (Europe actually) and one for Japan. To ensure that there is an exact match they only ever use the Japanese database for paint on grey imports in case there are any subtle differences.

Very good, maybe revjhdavis should quote this fact to his paint supplier, they offer a colour match guarantee or money back. They might have used the wrong database.

If they had done that both would be the wrong colour. As it is, the brush on is the right colour, it is only the spray can that is wrong and the supplier is saying they came from the same batch, so which database they used is irrelevant.

Poohbear....quite! I have taken a photo of a piece of card which I half painted with the spray and half with the touch-up brush and emailed it to the company; the contrast is all too apparent.

It could be that the can could have been contaminated. Looks like they have used the proper code if one part is ok. I wonder if they know about the two different codes it might be worthwhile mention it to them.

Are you spraying it in cold/damp conditions? Could be blooming.

No, painting was done whilst still warm and dry. The colour swatches I did were done in the warm and dry too. The company are sending me a fresh can made up to Japanese spec....we'll see if there's any difference.

This explains why my Bongo's three tone then! The rear half is a different shade of red to the front having been re-sprayed following arch repair and touch up.

I now discover that Purple Pixie should be Grape Purple Mica Pixie or Grape Purple Pearl Pixie!

take the easy route, ive used this on the mrs.s bongo. its one of the only mazda colours they do, and its the right shade.

available everywhere off the shelf.
