Radiator blown, will cylinder head follow?

My radiator blew spectacularly last week, steam filled the cab, que lots of screaming and general grabbing anything of value from inside (I thought the thing was ablaze) the van is with the people in Bodmin (pitstop) who are lovely, and I believe the radiator has been replaced, the guy there said the cylinder head could have also gone but we won't know without driving it (a huge bill I can't really justify) opinions please, who has had a radiator go and not had the head follow? Thank you

Really sorry to hear this, doubtless depends how soon you stopped.

It is a lottery, every case is different. If air got into the head water jacket while the engine was running and already hot the chances of distortion and cracks or even a meltdown is fairly high I would think. You may well be lucky, fingers crossed.

Did the engine restart OK, is there any signs of water coming out of the tail pipe.
