The largest size that fits your tray and doesn't get hit by the bonnet!
Not all trays are the same size.

I have worrying bolt heads on the surface of the battery tray -- I need an idea of what folks used under the battery that has worked please!
one of the batteries (I have the norther duel batteries) which could be OE is almost at a height where closing the bonnet could be a problem. I may have about 5/7 mm only to play with.

I had the same problem with my old winter model. I couldn't get a leisure battery, locally, to fit, without hitting the bonnet

I ended up using a normal battery and fitting an isolating switch to separate the batteries when not running - obviously having used Pippin's instructions to get most things to work from the second, isolated battery.
