Bongo Fury

Hello everyone I have a conundrem, the Bongo has baffeled mechanics again!
This time brakes. The brake light is now on when pressing pedal but problem was there before light. Any how the pedal won't go down and reminds me of trying to stop an old tractor. The brakes aren't siezed, the servo's been changed ( I didn't think that was it ) and the system's been bled. Also they've check for vacuum leaks.
Does any one have any other ideas or had the same problem?

Still not giving up on my Bongo, I've just made curtains!

The hard pedal is a classic inoperative servo symptom. Could the replacement also be faulty? Is it a new on or one off another vehicle. If the system could be bled the master cylinder seems to be doing it's job. looking for servo leaks would be next especially if the part is a new one.

Was there any other work carried out recently on the vehicle??

brake master cylinder fault probably, the first seal has failed and fluid has got between that and the next seal, it cannot move as the seal is shaped to resist it, so the pedal goes rock hard.

it would bleed ok with the new pressure/suction devices,but the good old fashioned way would have found it.
bet the forced bleed gadget even caused it------------------------------technology, who needs it

I wondered if the servo put on would be working too as it's come from the scrappers and they may have used the old seals, It's been there for months waiting for the insurers to receive an estimate and my little man and I have missed our first holiday.
I'll see what they tell me later, and report back

From what I can gather there were some leaks, new hoses and seals as well as servo. So Bongo back in the morning but very empty pockets and no holiday - still we're safe I suppose. Was hoping to test it out campingwise for the first time nevermind at least we're safe............ Think I'd better bleed the cooling system before we leave the garage after it tried to bleed itself, just incase.

Tell you what it still gets us home or to the garage even when it's poorly - Good ole Bongo and thank you everyone for your help it was very reasuring
