Hello all, can any of you tell me if I am going mad or not..! I am sure my oil warning light on the dash used to go out almost immediately after the engine was started. I noticed recently that it can now take a few seconds. The oil condition in good and topped up and it has received regular oil changes. What about yours?? on cold start up does it go out immediately? Please tell me I imagined it and it's always taken a few seconds... :)

It's a 1996 AFT 4-wheel drive with a 2.5TD engine, currently using 10-30 engine oil. The engine itself sounds fine, no nasty noises or tapping ad the oil condition looks very good. I was curious about the oil pump.! Has there been any history regarding Bongo pumps that anyone knows of ?

Never heard of an oil pump problem before. First thing to eliminate might be the pressure sensor - try replacing that and see what happens?

Any doubts have the oil pressure checked, don't depend on lights.

i would change the oil filter, some of the cheap ones are rubbish, do an engine oil flush, then refill with 5w-30 semi. 10w-30 should be ok though, is it semi--full syth--or mineral oil you have in.

the engine oil pick up filter in the sump maybe restricted, have you ever taken the sump off. if not the engine oil flush may help here.

dont ignore the light though get it checked out.

Thanks all for your feedback, given that the indication lamp being on for a short while is not normal, I think i'll go with the oil and filter change as recommended. Currently using semi-synthetic. Not done a flush before so any recommendations for flushing oil would be very welcome. Thanks again and fingers crossed..
