Roof warning light and alarm sounding ALL THE TIME!!

Yes! It's driving us nuts!

So, when I start the engine the warning light and beep commence. Then I raise the roof a couple of centimetres and then lower it again and the beep stops but the light continues flashing.

From what I have read it would seem the problem is something to do with the sensor (as the roof makes a clear 'clunking' sound when it closes) but I don't know exactly what to do. My local garage is also not sure so I'd like some advice from a fellow Bongo-owner before I pay for them to spend hours investigating (I'm sure you understand).

Can anyone help?

Hi, Yep, had exactly the same for about 6 months. Still doing it. I think its the microswitch. One day may get it fixed , but now ignore the light with ease. Some people cover the flashing light with tape. Cheers, Dave

There are two micro-switches that signal the limit of travel, at the front of the AFT inside the upper tracks one each side, they are operated by the trolleys pushing on a spring loaded plastic button, that in turn operates the switch;

these tell the computer when the AFT is locked down properly, it sounds as if one of them may not be operating correctly.

Thanks for your help (and sorry for the delay). Can you tell me exactly where these micro-switches are located - so I can tell the garage! Thanks!

Within the aluminium runners attached to the top of the AFT. There are 3 of them on the nearside and one on the Offside. The two at the front of the AFT control the down (locked) position, the middle one nearside halts the lowering halfway for the check, and the rear nearside is the fully raised position.

Here's a pic. The microswitch can be seen beside the white plastic insert.

On my bongo closing either front microswitch silences both the beeps and stops the flashing light. I did have the light only symptom, which I cannot replicate, but fixed by recalibrating the roof to open more evenly.

Thank you so much!

I've tried putting a bit of cardboard between the black switch and the white thingy but it didn't make any difference - the beep and flashing light continued. grrr!

Will drop into the garage tomorrow with your comments to see what they think.

You would need to do BOTH at the same time on the front ones to have an affect.

That would be sensible and how I thought it should have been wired, but on mine defintiely doing either side stops the alarms. I don't know if someone had been in at the wiring before I took ownership.

The switches feed separately to the computer, it makes the decisions! So all the wiring is straight back;
