Bongo Fury

Anyone know of another vehicle that shares the same front brake pad fitting kit? The pads I've got will also fit a Mazda MPV, so thats my first option, but ideally I'm looking for a vehicle that your average motor factor would stock parts for.

One of my clips has broken and I'd rather not refit in that condition.

Yesterday I was at their Northampton branch buying non bongo bits and asked about brake pads and discs for my 2.5td 4x4. Yes they stock them (but not today, next day availability). I also asked about fitting kit they dont stock. I didn't think whether our brakes are different.
the bongo didn't immedeately come up but was asked for alternative names Ford freda and bobs your mothers brother. now reckognised Bongo .(no freda on website either)

I ended up getting the fitting kit from eBay. My local motor factor did some digging and came up with some equivalent kits which where around about £12, but as they were not guaranteed to be exactly the same, I just went for the first ones I found. The pads (and presumably the disks and calipers) are also fitted to similar vintage Mazda MPV. My pads were by Pagid and the discs were branded as National. Currently done about 250 miles since changing them and they are working fine.

When I changed my front pads a couple of weeks back, the new ones I used had like an 'insulating' bonded to the steel backing of the pad ..

On each of the old pads was a stainless steel shim that I removed, and clipped over the 'insulating' onto the new pads .. there was also a small stainless steel 'wedge' that fitted into a slot between the pad and calliper ..

That will be the wear indicator, when the pad wears down to its sell by date the indicator rubs on the disk and makes a racket.

Its the cheap version of an early warning device.

Oh right .. I had assumed that it was a pad anti rattle devise ..!!
