Bongo Fury

Some time ago I posted a question that my Bongo would run rough at cold start and once warmed up it was fine, without anything to go on I simply ignored it!

Now it has occasionally started doing it while warm, it does not stop but hunts up and down trying to stabilise. Also I now have a clicking, like the sound of a clicking tappet from an old Ford with hydraulic tappets, changes with the speed of the engine, seems worse until its warmed up.

Any ideas on both as an issue or as a coincidence would be appreciate to help me decide how to play it,

Sounds like the data required to stabilise the engine idle is missing or outside permissible parameters. Bad or no information could be simply loose/poor connection or wiring through to an engine speed sensor on the way out. Difficult to find if intermittent, try connectors then if that makes no difference try moving the wiring loom (s) gently - engine idling so be careful.

Check that the fuel pump stop solenoid wire has a proper connection,if it makes and breaks you get a rattle sound and would cause the engine to fluctuate in idle etc
Worth. A look at to start with.its the tappet noise that's got me thinking on this
