Hadyn engine temperature sensor

I'm fitting a Hadyn clock, coolant alarm and engine temp alarm combo this coming weekend and I'm wondering which is the best way to route the engine temp sensor? It looks like it might have to be down the side of the engine, past the fan and along the brake lines and up into the bonnet area then back through the bulkhead. Or....is it possible to route it inside the van without squashing the sensor wire?

Cheers

John

On our Bongo the temperature sensor wire goes from the central cubby hole (where the TM2 alarm is fitted) under the steering column, down through the plastic err...thingy that's below the fuses, under the drivers footstep and into the engine bay through a large rubber grommet that's already there for an already present loom.
It's easy to do - drivers footstep just pulls out and there's plenty of room.

Shortest route is by cutting a small hole in the rubber bung which the gear selector passes thru. Fit some tubing or conduit and it's easy to run additional wires at a later date.

I've currently got one sensor each head (V6) and another on the hose that goes to the top of the radiator:

The other side is a bit more 'busy':
