Fuel gauge reading permanently (V6)

Hi,
For some reason the fuel gauge on our Bongo doesn't return to zero when the ignition is switched off. It seems to give a correct reading, which is a good thing, but I just wondered why it didn't switch off!! Does anyone have any ideas?

I don't think mine does either, I've had quite a few cars that are like that.

They are all like that.
Most Japanese cars are the same.

The reason for this function is to Help the person that is going to Nick your vehicle, it lets them know how much fuel is in the tank before they nick it. They are not too keen on buying fuel if they don't need to.
Best keep it as low as possible.

It's not actually powered when the ignition is off, but as it is highly damped and there is no return spring, it remains in the same position as when it was last energised. It's the only time on a Bongo when you wont see the fuel gauge move while you're watching it

Thanks for the replies all, although it's a bit odd as it I'm sure it zeroed itself before, so maybe it's right now!!
