Have a strange situation - just wired in a single din stereo however; works great until I put the lights on - stereo goes off and rear lights dont illuminate as bright as what they should do - seems as if it reducing the power. The negative wire at the back also get hot.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Have you fitted a new ISO converter, or is the one fitted compatible.

No iso just wired direct to existing wires.

Originally it blew a fuse under the bonnet - put in a 30a as a replacement. Still no joy!

If you have the original wiring for the old Japanese radio you will probably need one of these adaptors/converters.

There is a wire on the radio loom that takes a live feed when the lights are switched on. (Side/tail & dash ilumination.)
I assume it acts to feed a backlight set up on some radios with this feature...?
But with the iso connector on my JVC this serves to dim the screen so as not to be too bright at night... Though this can be.set.
It is possible with your radio set up the earth was shorting through this wire in the loom causing your problem..?
