Hi again!

Anyone experienced this and what could it be :?: I got it back yesterday after a timing belt change and a small coolant leak? To be honest I cannot say if it was off then or just went off today whilst out shopping as I had not noticed   All I know is that it was working fine before it went in to workshop?

I'm totally stumped with this one as I have never had owt to do with rev counters before #-o #-o

everything else is OK [-o< [-o<

Thx n advance?

if its a diesel

part number 20-H10 on the link below.

its down the bottom front under drivers seat--------just near the timing belt cover----and could get knocked or broken etc.
check the connector and remove the bolt that holds it to the engine block, mine was full of fuel behind, clean everything and refit.

Sorry for late thank you's but just got back from a short trip  Its a V6 petrol so does this make any difference? Also I gather its OK to run with it for a while as I am off to Yorkshire tomorrow for a week so it would have to wait till I get back?

Given the location then I can safely put this cock up at the hands of the mechanic then? He will be chuffed when I tell him as he has already had a strip torn off hime when he brought it back as there was traces of carelessness with enging oil/grease smudges in the carpet and dash board    I got a credit note for a free valet and oil change for that one? Wonder what he will offer now

Thanks guys

Tell them to get their act together sounds like they don't give a hoot, once your sorted I don't think you should be giving them your buisness, make sure you don't part with money, they must've known it wasn't working on completion, they must also have seen dirty marks:not acceptable in this day n age

Ah yes, it's the V6: you'll have to keep reminding us of that as its hard to keep up :). In that case, I'm not 100% sure where it takes the signal from. It could be the crankshaft position sensor which can just be seen at the bottom of this picture:

BTW, did you get the crankshaft and camshaft oil seals changed at the same time? They tend to leak over time so it's well worth replacing while it's all in pieces.

Ah well as usual were all wiser after the event :o I never ever done this previously so I never gave it a thought this time round, my first V6 you see?

I did renew the full cambelt kit and also the roller bearings and other bits (according to the invoice) eye watering it was? Anyway rang him this morning and he said bring it back when your ready and I will fix the revcounter, valet the car and give it an oil and filter change for now't.

First time I have been here but I think he is a decent garage but is inexperienced with Bongo's?? He is an AA acredited garage so if this works out I will give him another try next time.

I wonder if its just me but I never seem to get any job done right first time these days, it's always got to go back. Last garage had 5 attempts to fix a leak in my other Bongo, I gave them my 1963 Scimitar GT for an MOT and service, I drove it in and it came back on a trailer as he said it failed to start and as he knew nothing about 60's cars, fiddled with it and F   cked it up! Nedles to say I sacked him!

One before him came and changed the starting motor on wife's beetle, left the plastic undercover loose which came off and smashed the exhaust, He said sorry, fixed it and went away. Starter motor packed up 2 months later, got him back again, got my money back, sacked him!

Its not just garages either driveways, washing machines, bathroom suites you name it I have had a nightmare!

No one has any pride in the job anymore. Just het it done and get the money and ride of into the sunset!

Thanks for the help anyway and to ease any further doubt I will only be posting stuff on the V6 in future as I am waiting to part with the diesel one!
