Driving along at 60 when the engine just cut out. Started again on third attempt. This happened 9 times with shorter intervals. Any ideas what is causing this?

It could be the fuel cut off solenoid on the injector pump. May be faulty or loose connection.

It would also be worthwhile checking the fuel filler cap, does the ignition light etc come on when the engine cuts out ?,if they dont it would be worthwhile investigating the ignition switch/system.
Good Luck.

Fuel filler cap? Do you mean if broken or not on properly? Lights do come on so ignition all good. Looked into solenoid. Will attempt 3 hour trek back to st Malo on wed.
Thanks techno phobe.... Got our log on activated.

The fuel filler cap has a valve fitted to it, if the valve is blocked or stuck it will stop air entering the tank and cause a vacuum, clean and check the valve, or run with the cap slack (just to test it). #
Good Luck...
PS I see that the original post was from ...technophobe ..for log in problems, what vehicle do YOU have.

Hi.
Same as techno phobe but 1996. Rear conversion, not sure it is the best set up though.
