I recently approached a firm to get some camping gear sent here, as there's very little stuff available here, and, lo and behold, no reply...not impressed, I wrote and asked why they don't respond to polite enquiries, and some illiterate person with a title (haven't they all got one ) just replied "because it's too expensive"...mmm...that's for me to decide!....so I crossed "Camping Online" off the list, and dealt with "World of Camping"...wow! what a different approach, and , between us, it was shipped. I get the impression that they really try hard to please, and they were very polite, plus , the product is pretty good!...I can't recommend them enough. I don't like firms who don't reply...but I would say that most do have a touch of common courtesy, and let me know if they have difficulty shipping!....most times, I can help!

I suspect that all the camping gear locally to you has been bought up by all those planning to invade us when they open the borders again soon. I can just see it now tent Cities everywhere

As for your purchasing experiences, everone has an attitude these days, is everwhere My main gripe is that when I try to purchase something from a store they say...sorry we do not have it in stock but you can buy it from us online? I say, do you know your closing down your own shop and making yourself redundant?? Remember Comet! who would have thought it?

Fact is buying online is far less hassle and no attitude from snotty teen shop assistants who may have a degree and think they deserve better. We do it all the time, shop online that is , latte in one hand and a lappy in the other, it gets delivered in reasonable time and if it's crap you send it back and get's ya money back!

You have no idea how close to the truth you are with your first statement ...When they couldn't go to England, there seemed to be no apparent interest, and our local Official State Translator said she had no intention of going to England, and probably wouldn't like it....now she can go, she can't wait!...and she's one shrewd bunny!...She is going to set up in business advising what the Emigre Bulgos what they can claim, and , believe me, when we first came here, a friend advised that the local population are highly talented at extracting money from you!
To say that they are poor is so far from the truth that it re-defines the word "porkie"....They don't pay income tax, and hide a large slice of any income....As with the Greeks, the people have money, and the Government is poor!
Many aeons ago, there was a rather cruel cartoon in Punch, where a tribe in deepest darkest Somewhere were sitting outside mud huts with grass roofs, feet up in rather exclusive furniture , martini in one hand, designer shades, reading the paper, HUGE TV , and a Roller parked nearby, whilst the kids played in complete joy....next scene, a chap on the hill screamed out "Quick, here come the Anthropologists"....next scene they were all sitting outside their huts in a scene of abject poverty......That scenario REALLY applies here!...the EU representatives are shown somewhere suitably squalid
Anyway, back on topic, I do most shopping on line, and it pans out cheaper than buying ANYTHING here...and when you take gas mileage into account, it's even better....NO WONDER the high-street chains say they're not doing business. We now have a local firm who run a Man and Van service from England, and they are cheap enough to buy a washing machine in the UK and get them to deliver it here!!!!!!!!....it kinda shows that folk here aren't that poor, when the white goods are pretty pricey, and huge Mega-stores are full of "poor" shoppers...waving cash rather than show any banking transaction
The purchase I made in the UK....a camping hook-up...no such beastie here!

You should look round this way - it's only the immigrants working in the fields that is keeping fruit and veg in your shops.

It may be true that immigrants earn by picking / menial jobs, but we're talking a different tribe here, and they are aiming for the benefits system...note what I say regarding our "Official State Translator" advising what they can claim....AND, they'll all "rent" a child or three to add to the cash...well...unless you check the DNA of the progeny, they could belong to anyone.....and probably do....
There's a well-tried way of dealing with them...treat them as they treat foreigners over here...charge them too much for anything by a factor of 3....even our Bulgarian friends say not to buy anything in a shop / market...they offer to buy for us so we don't get stung...I'm afraid that's the way in this corner of Europe...not necessarily the same across Eastern Europe, but common here, and if you apply the same rationale to them, they'll be off like a shot
The other thing is that every single one coming to Western Europe is that they'll all have a degree...they cost 1000 to 1500 Euros here ...it's a whole new way of studying by not studying....think of all the effort you'll save...in a way, you have to admire their guile!
