Hi guys,

After using jump leads to start the Bongo over the weekend there was a constant alarm or beep noise coming from the cabin. Found it was down to this unit. I have no idea what it is or what it does. The only thing is that once i disconnected the battery to reset it, it now doesn't work. Or at least doesn't switch on again. Should i be worried? A quick search on internet came up with PIVOT FLAT FULL AUTO TURBO TIMER. I have no other idea what I'm looking at. :?: Any suggestions?

Thanks

Rhun

Turbo timer keeps the engine running after switching off - it's to give the turbo a chance to cool down.
I used to use mine when pulling into service area, after a thrash along the motorway, although I believe it is illegal to use them on public highways, unless you actually stay with the vehicle.

It's not essential then. Thanks for that John. Don't think it's ever worked properly since the 16 months I've owned it. Never heard the engine stay on anyway.

Thanks again

Rhun

As John says always a good idea to let the engine idle when it's hot. This gives the turbo time to cool down and stops the oil carbonising which can lead to early bearing/turbo failure. Doesn't just apply to Bongos either.
