Bongo Fury

Hi folks,

Paranoid by the horror stories of overheated engines, I'm planning to fit one of Haydn's low coolant sensors this evening in time for my big summer adventure.

The instructions seem quite straightforward, but I'm wondering where to take the power feed from. I have a Willinton kit, which means the radio, lights, 12v sockets and blinds are all on the L/B. Where's the easiest place to get an 'ignition on' power source under the steering column?

if you've got a Willinton kit fitted, the live connection from the liesure battery will go to the negative side of the fuse terminal of the fuse you have removed to fit Willinton kit to fuse box.

So you will have the positive side of the removed fuse terminal still on switched live from the ignition.

You could either remove fuse box and splice into the corresponding cable at the rear, or do the same as the Willinton kit but connect to the live side of the fuse terminal making sure that the two do not come into contact, make sure you have an inline fuse also.

I wait in anticipation of the usual shooting down with a better idea.

I wired mine into the rear of the instrument panel. It's too easy to blow the fuse feeding cigarette lighter by plugging in a sat nav and then you'll have no alarm.

i do similar to the above, and splice into the blue/white top right (i think) just unscrew the fuse box 2 screws and get your meter out.

Thanks folks. Opening up the instrument panel seems well beyond the realms of 'simple' so I'll have a poke about in the fuse box with my voltmeter.

Job's a good 'un. Ended up cutting into the feed to the dashboard, fuse no. 10 (15A, 2nd row down, 2nd from the left).

All working hunky dory, I can drive in peace.

ok i see. well could be one thing less to worry about then. still keep regular checks on water level and not wait till it goes off. better to fix a small leak before you get a bigger one
