Planning a trip to Colditz

Hi, I'm planning a trip to Colditz in late July - early August to celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary!
Has anyone any recommendations for Bongo & tent / pup tent friendly campsites on the route from Calais or within a reasonable distance of it?

The trip begins in Bangor, Northern Ireland so the trek through Scotland & England will take longer than that through mainland Europe! I'd be keen for campsite recommendations en route from Stranraer to Dover too, if anyone wants to pitch in.

The route will be (roughly)
Stranraer - Dumfries - Carlisle - Kendal - Preston - Stafford - Rugby - St Albans - Maidstone - Folkstone - Dover
Calais - Gent - Antwerp - Essen - Dortmund - Kassel - Leipzig - Colditz

Any experiences, good or bad are much appreciated!

Thanks in advance...

:D Here are 3 camps I would recommend along your route 8)

15mins from Kendal on Lake Windermere

Nice camp near Stafford on your way down

Brugge is lovely and well worth a day or 2 as your passing only 1hr 15 from Calais

Hope you have a great time ...........but it may be wise to plan your escape well

Thanks for the tips - especially the one in Bruges!
We hadn't planned on a stop there, but you were about the third or fourth person who said - "You have to stop in Bruges, it's great!"
