Bongo Diagnostics

Be gentle, I'm new! I've had my Bongo for about a year and absolutely love it but it's developed a fault and is giving me a real headache to try and fix.
For a while, when driving for an hour or more the gear changes became 'jolty' and occasionally the hold light flashed which went off if I turned engine off for a while.
Recently, on one occasion the engine just cut out completely whilst stopped at pedestrian crossing and after difficulty starting it again, had to get home keeping the revs high.
Local garage has managed to run some diagnostics on it and has come up with Auto Transmission Malfunction Codes of 16, 14, 11 & 17 but is unable to find what these mean. 321 Away (where I purchased Bongo) has said 16 is EGR Valve Position Sensor and 11 is Air intake temperature but says the other codes don't exist?
Would take to Bongo specialist in Plymouth but not sure I'd make it that far - it's ok on really small journeys.
Can anyone help decipher the diagnostic codes so I can get my Bongo back running - please?

Whatever the codes, you're probably going to have to take it somewhere. Whereabouts are you located? Sorry I can't help with the codes, but Julian at 321 is one of the best. It sounds like it is not the core gearbox but - as he said - something like the TPS (throttle position sensor, not EGR?) which is known to go a little wrong at times and if so, is not an expensive fix I believe.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Thanks - Julian no longer at 321 sadly. I'm in Yelverton, Devon. Local garage happy to fix if he can work out what the codes mean - he's just not a Bongo specialist.

Plymouth is close to you, so give Allans a ring - they have an excellent reputation and will soon sort you out 8) - website here http://www.allansvehicleservices.co.uk/

in my opinion it sounds like one of the egr solenoids, these control the position of the egr valve which has a position sensor on it. when the ecu reads its not switched either on or off as decided by coolant temp via the ecu, it flags a fault.

Allans or Faraday Mill service centre (formerly bongobits) either of them should be able to arrange pickup
