Hi All
Picked up my R Reg freda 4X4 this week but after checking over the van I noticed the rear tyres maybe the wrong size 215/70/15? .
I've checked the fact sheets and it's saying it should be 215/65/15.... don't want to mess the transfer box up! I've checked the forum but it doesn't give a clear answer.so any help would be greatful  cheers in advance.

I'm no expert on this, but I think the most important thing is that they are all the same rolling circumference, so they each complete one revolution at the same time. In your case, they are all the same, so should be nothing to worry about. There has been much debate about the widths of front & rear, but I have the same size all round which means there will be no problem if I ever have to swap front to back etc.

If you look on the driver?s side door frame, near the lock, there might be a label telling you the tire sizes along with their pressures, albeit in Japanese. I checked on my two-wheel drive bongo, and both the sizes that you mention are there. I guess this means that the vehicle can take either size. Are the front tires a different size?

be careful you have different rolling radiuses which could create a problem

I may be wrong and spank me if I am but I believe that it is manufacturers recommendations that 215's are fitted to the rear. From what I've learn't here and the nice chappie at AVA is that you can upsize to 215's all round but not downsize to 195's. Also if you upsize to 215's all round you can change the space saver for a 215 rim and it will fit all wheels!

I have 215's all round with no probs, I think that a wheel from a ford probe will fit the bongo, I am sure someone will let us know, I realise this has been covered many times before as well. Happy motoring.

Can anyone tell me what the space saver is?

Cheers :D

SimonT,
The space saver is the skinny little spare wheel kept in the carrier underneath. Designed I believe to get you to a garage in an emergency, 40mph max. A lot of folk have swapped it for a normal sized wheel. Must do it myself one day. I have been driving on 195s all round for the past eight months without problems. :)

I think that the ford probe wheel will not fit onto the wheel holder, I believe Shane has posted that it was the wrong size hole diameter
