hi all, up here in the rainy Judas, looking at the alps, and have the charge and sediment lights coming on at low revs, off above, do you agree alternator? anyone know why only on the move not standing still, and best way to get fixed or parts. thanks guys....

Sounds like alternator. If its diesel, you have a charger, and you keep electrical services off, you could go decent intervals with no charging. Meanwhile, the Bongo shop has been known to urgent air courier parts to overseas locations. Good luck, keep us posted.

For what it is worth I experienced similar back in Oct 2012. Lights flickered intermittently until earlier this month when lights came on permanently and I ended up having a new alternator fitted and all now appears OK. Hope this helps.

The lamps indicate Alternator problems, but it could also be a loose alternator belt, if as you say it only happens at low speeds ?
What type of engine is it ? Diesels don't take much current if you have most additional services off, petrol ones take more current for the Sparks!

The sediment light would suggest its a diesel engine Bongo. Both lights on is indication of low charge. Worth checking the belts for tension, but there are two for some extra resilience, so chances are alternator is on its way out.

Where abouts?...France/ Switzerland?....Many years back, we were visiting friends in Switzerland, in a small village , and you'd be surprised (or not) how efficient the Swiss are. We had a peculiar fuse go on the air conditioning...only on certain Jags...a local shop got a new one in a couple of days...and it was only a little car accessory shop....if you're in Switzerland, give it a whirl...get a new one....if they say they'll get it, they will

morning all, as its a bank holiday here and in Switzerland on Monday, think we will toddle down to Annecy for the duration, and source an alternator from one of the UK suppliers to send it out over the weekend. they only just had two days off last week!! thanks for the replies, will keep posted, but new alternator would b e best as we are down here for at least the next three weeks...hopefully!

Interesting to think that a decent solar panel might keeps the diesels battery charged, provided use of services was minimal (esp starter motor)

hi all, thanks again, alternator and belts ordered to be sent out to me by ava leisure.....thanks guys!. so its a few days leisure overlooking lake Annecy for us....what a trial. thanks for the advice, heading south for a bit of a warm up, Provence and camargue next.
