Exempt to top up the washer bottle .. I rarely need to look under the bonnet .. but today swinging round the island in my Cul de sac, the coolant alarm chirped for a split second .. strange I thought .. so pulled back onto my drive to check.

Instantly noticed that the coolant bottle cap missing .. even after a though search .. completely disappeared .. the coolant level was still OK and on thinking .. the temp. gauge had never budged from 'normal' .. and the heater was working as normal .. no sign of coolant being blown around or any stains ..

Just wonder .. when and why had the cap popped off .. with the various nooks and crannies around the leisure battery, where as it gone .. I would have thought it would have got lodged somewhere ..??

What is the OEM pressure cap 'blow of' settings for the V6 as the only ones I have to hand are 13lbs (0.9 bar) ..??

see whats on the rad top, if its a 1.1 bar sprung cap, you can fit this to the exp tank and fit a 0.9 to the rad top----- old shape nissan micra fits, but is 0.9.

Providing the overflow pipe on the radiator (if fitted) is blocked off. :)

yes fair point,
ive got one on the drive at the moment that is blowing the rad cap--1.1 bar fitted, and its still leaking on the uncapped non gen rad overflow pipe.
it should be blocked off really.

stick a 0.9 on the rad as it does not vent at the rad with a standard spec rad, it just seals on the top seal so the pressure spring is not in the game. then fit your 1.1 to the expansion tank top where the venting takes place in the event of an overheat,(safety valve) and allows the system to relax during cooling.
