Bongo Fury

Anyone who has fitted the "wireless" parking type sensors, it says to place the control unit in the "boot" of your car, as we don't have a boot, where can you put the control box so that its out of the way, but near enough to fix the wires from the sensors to the box and send a clear signal to the display unit and beeper? No i am not the most practical pea in the pod.

I fitted a set of rear parking sensors this weekend, not wireless but I think the set has a control box very similar to the wireless ones. I fitted it behind and slightly below the nearside glove pocket, with all the wires running back through to the back light panel.

My Bongo came with a towbar and the beeper for that is tucked away in the same place - seems to be plenty of room down there and I *should* be able to access it in future if needs be by just unscrewing the plastic glove pocket tray.

I fitted wired ones, cost 14 quid off that and work fine, with buzzer easy to hear when in drivers seat. I really don't think wireless is worth it. You still have to do about the same installation work, yet more to go wrong, and more dosh.

thanks for the input folks, now i'm thinking about wireless or wired, decisions, decisions!!!!!

Surely wireless is easier because you don't have to route a wire all the way from the back to the dashboard for the little display unit?

Its not that difficult running the cables, there are some nice holes only partially used to get into/out of the engine compartment under the drivers seat and thus up into the dashboard area.

I think I concluded that was the only advantage with wireless, but why would I need a display when I have a varying audio signal. And that's how its proved to be - as the beeps get more frequent, I know its time to stop reversing - no distracting display needed (although I use my reversing mirror for confirmation, as always)

...and less Chinese gimmickry to go wrong

I concluded exactly the same. My last car had a visual display which I never ever looked at - beeps are plenty for me!
