Bongo Fury

I had a problem with my temp gauge showing maximum all the time. I had the gauge checked and was fine. Had the wire buzzed out to the end connector that goes to the temp sender, fine. So all that was left was the temp sender itself. I Tried changing it and still had the same issue. Not sure what else to try, any ideas? Thanks,

If you remove the connector at the tank the gauge should read zero.
If you earth the positive feed the gauge should read maximum.
As the positive feed is spark protected, the open circuit voltage is
around 3 to 4 volts. If these 3 tests are correct then the earth fault
must be in the level sensor or the connector.

Yes, if I disconnect at the temp sensor it reads zero. And if I earth the positive feed it reads max. Do you mean then that the problem is with the sensor itself? Thanks.

Nick's problem is with the temp sender grumps...........the same logic applies as to the tank sensor but if I remember rightly, the temp sensor circuit also has links to the auto gearbox wiring circuit, which if earthed by a chafed wire could give the same symptoms
