Bongo Fury

New to forum, i have just removed an old roof rack from my pride and joy, two bolts removed ok, the other two bolts just kept turning, had to cut them off with hack saw, i am now left with two bolts minus the heads which i cut off, both the bolts are turning with the the threaded locating points, i am worried it will lead to leaks.

Any help appreiciated

The last thing I would have done would have been to remove the heads because now you haven't got anything to get hold of to turn them if you ever want to remove them. I would have thought it would have been better to try and get some glue of some kind in to hold the insert so that you could then unscrew the bolt with the aid of some easing oil left soaking overnight.

Yes its aft top, unfortunately had to cut off bolt heads to enable removal, two bolts were allready removed, unless the rack was taken off i would not get access to the fixing points as these are located under the roofrack feet,

Can you see where/what they're screwed into? I'm not going to lift my AFT in this wind to check, but if you can get a hacksaw to access the "captive" nut, and a pair of vise grips on the remaining shaft of the bolt, then you should be alright to remove. Then perhaps epoxy the nuts (or new nuts) back in place and somehow re-seal the hole. Just thoughts... I'm sure you'll work it out. You'll have to!

Or just leave it as is. Try pouring some water on it and see what happens - you'll probably be fine.
