Bongo Fury

My bongo don't seem to have the power it should and does not like to rev above 3000 revs over about 2500 i get alot of soot coming out and marking the road it won't go above 3000 for sustained periods and shudders a bit. All this when up to temp i.e. 85'C

ANyone got any suggestions?
I am thinking fuel supply but the filters have been changed recently, could it be banjo filter i was going to clean it when I find a decent day, could the laquer be coming off and letting in air at high revs?

I am planning also to clean the tank filter out also
Van has been using veg + diesel for a few years now
EGR valve blanked off was going to clean the air intake also could it be that?

outer 18.3mm . inner 12mm. thickness 1.7mm. these sizes are off a used one and measured using an half descent digital gadget.

if your getting soot then it sounds more like an air inlet problem than fuel. or that the cold start solenoids is/are stuck on. check to see that the throttle cable is correctly adjusted. then check very carefully the vac pipes from the pump all the way to the solenoids and to the little green valve. if any of these pipes are getting hot, then flattening under vac this can make the cold start solenoids stick on,giving a choke on or half on effect----over fueling.

take out and check the banjo filter. remove the allen head bolt first,then the fuel pipe, then the banjo nut itself, watch the washers and the spacer. get a cotton bud and hook out the spring, then hook out the filter and clean. the reason for removing it is to see if there are dangly bits blocking the flow,these cling and hang from the underside into the inlet of the pump(a bit like a hairdressers plug hole in the sink) yukkkkk . while the fuel feed pipe is off just blow hard down towards the tank to clean the fuel tank pick up filter.

Sorted now
gave banjo a good clean
cleaned air intake inside
blew down fuel line to clear gauze

goes like the clappers now!
