Hi
Went on our first camping trip of the year this weekend to the The Red Squirrel in Glencoe.
The weather was cold (ice inside van on Sat morning, brrr) but clear and bright. We managed to stay toastie in the van by all (two adults two small kids) sleeping downstairs and having a sleeping bag each and four duvets

Think I managed to bag the best spot between the two radiators otherwise known as Lachlann and Ishbel, while Donald had the comfort of all our feet and the two front seats
The campsite was very dry and we weren't allowed a fire

beacuse of all the problems in the area with the wildfires.
Had a fab time and saw a few other Bongos, a green one near Tyndrum and a nice ruby red one parked in lost valley car park in Glencoe.
Donald climbed Beinn a' Chrulaiste (the hill behind The Kingshouse).
Here are some of his photos:

Lucky you, I'm itching to try out my new wheels but I am bogged down with decorating at the moment. Expecting my old college pal from the Middle East with his wife and youngest daughter soon. Not seen him for 20 years thanks to all the troubles out there.

Oooh -5 we knew it was cold but hadn't realised it was that low. I feel quite proud of myself now, my warm Cornish blood must be acclimatising to this Scottish weather at last.
Hope to see you both soon.

Hey Matt
Yes I had fun too, I met up with an old school friend while Donald was up the hill.
What's a Dutch Oven?

Nice pics. I'm getting the itch to get away in the Bongo soon and it may well be Glencoe - it certainly looks stunning in your photos. The poor Bongo is fed up being stuck in commuter traffic, needs to see some hills and I agree.

Aye, the first.
Cast iron pot with a lid - it'll bake, roast, stew and fry though I'm sure, without practice, it can ruin food, too. I've never used one, but like the idea of slow cooking on a campsite.
This might tempt you...

Fantastic pictures, and well done camping out in the cold with the wee ones, they'll love telling the tales to their pals
