Hi

Got a few problems:

1. problem with my rear heater it has stopped working completely and keeps blowing the 30 amp fuse under the bonnet?
2. Front heater does not put flow to the right direction as per the automatic selection.

Also when i select auto and set tempperature the ac comes on automatically even with temp set at 30?

Any help greatfully received

The rear blower sounds like it will need opening up to locate the problem, there isn't much to the circuit at all and if its blowing the fuse for the fan then something is probably stopping the fan turning;

The front sounds more like the disk in the drivers footwell has some broken links;

The Air Con will come on unless you specifically turn it off, there is a small button along the bottom of the controls to switch between ON/Eco/Off.

Thanks for the info i will take a look at the fan and drivers side links.

The ac never used to come on when you set temp to auto and if you turn off the ac by pressing the ac button it turns off the auto setting?

Any ideas?

Pressing AUTO turns on everything and controls automatically.
Press AC between on/eco/off - off goes to manual mode.
Press OFF and it turns off.
Press Fan and it turns on in manual mode, you can switch ac between on/eco/off as needed.

Geoff

Thanks for your help had a quick look at the servo on the drivers side and the bottom right link as per you picture is missing!

Can you buy replacements or is it a case of DIY!

Thanks

You might get some from a breakers but if its just a missing wire link time to get out the coat hangers!

Thanks for your help Geoff

I have sorted the servo all working fine!

How do i get to the rear blower/fan to check it and where is the resistor that controls it?

I am slowing learning my Bongo lol

Thanks

If you have a conversion - with difficulty! Otherwise its directly behind the drivers seat offside;
See the entries regarding Rear Heater and Rear Air Con and the like http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/i ... tr.html#12

Any ideas where i can buy the rear heater resistor 582670-5600?

It goes live and keeps blowing the fuse so needs replacing!

Thanks

If its blowing the "fuse" then the motor must either be stalled or there is a short, the fuses are thermal fuses they "blow" when they get hot enough to melt the solder, all you need do is re-solder the spring back down again - try to use the same solder that was present before if possible.

Just to be certain you do mean that the internal heat fuses are blowing not the 30Amp fuse R.Heater ?

The 30amp fuse is blowing!

Had a garage check the wiring and the rear heater resistor is live!

The fact that the 30 amp fuse is blowing just indicates that a high current is being drawn, which will be the case if the motor is jammed or if there is a short in the wiring (less likely).

The resistor will have a voltage across it that's the purpose of the resistor! If its a full 12 volts or close to it then that will be because the motor has jammed.

First check the motor, does it spin mechanically ? if it does then put 12 volts onto the motor to prove its OK.

The resistor pack has thermal fuses built in these will melt and break the current if the motor stalls for any reason but are repairable, press the spring in and just heat the contact with a soldering iron.

Thanks for all your help Geoff

Garage told me resistor was broke because it was getting voltage!

I will have a look at the motor when i get a chance to get the side conversion out again its a pain in the ....

Cheers

Yup, they are a real nuisance to get at but don't often fail thank goodness!
Shout if you need a virtual hand when you can gain access, and if you have a multi-meter to hand it will help identify the location of the problem.

Hi geoff

Finally had the time to move the side conversion to gain access to rear heater!

I have not done anything yet but the resistor has been disconnected by the garage.

What is the first thing i should check?

Should i just try and remove the motor and give it the once over?
