Bongo Fury

Has anyone any experience of these?

The scanner works fine on our Yeti but completely dead on the Bongo with the adapter cable.
So, either the adapter is knackered or it simply won't work on the Bongo.
If I can get it to work it could be invaluable.
Any ideas please.

Does your Bongo fall into these categories, shown in the Ebay advert?

No it doesn't John it's a 2001 diesel but I think that is purely when it became mandatory for the vehicles to have the OBD2 socket. Using that adapter cable I reckon it should work.

The Bongo isn't anything like OBD2 your device might have an adaptor but it won't work with a device expecting OBD2 protocol that is certain!

I've got the same adapter and similar diagnostic reader (although mine's suitable for CANBUS systems: Volvo, VW, Audi etc). I can confirm it doesn't work . I have seen an auto electrician use a laptop on a Bongo, but they must have had a suitable adapter and software.

Cheers Simon, it was worth a try for a tenner for the cable. Back to doing it the hard way.

What kind of stuff can it do? Sounds interesting.

I've still got an old laptop with a serial port on or I could use a Psion 5.
Where can you get a Mazda to RS232 cable from Mike? Google doesn't seem to know
Or, do you know what the pin connections are between the Mazda plug and the serial plug? I could make one up then.
