hi all

just come back from a weekend in newquay

700 miles in total

560 miles round journey - so did 140 round town - 5 peeps and luggage

28 mpg - before any one asks lol

so - front heater fan started to squeel a little on the way down

almost like a rubbing noise then - it silences to a sqeeking

sounds like bearings

1- how difficult is it to get to access the motor and fan

2- is it an absolute bugger or not too bad

3- just seen the 185 quid fan on ebay -- ouch

4- has anyone replaced the fan or just greased the bearings etc etc

when you speed the fan up - its fine apart from a little sqeeking

so everything runs ok - to me it sounds like the bearings

any input - info much appreciatted

thanks

andy

follow faq sheet and clean and grease it

its not that hard as ive done it

Just a tip - DON'T grease the bearings cos they are graphite impregnated 'Oilite' bushes.
Clean them up and apply thin oil (let the oil soak into the bearing).

When mine broke last year the bearing and shaft were shot, so I bought a new one for £130 from Japan off eBay, it came in five days including a weekend much better than 90 to 100 pounds that second hand ones were going for

Yep, fitted new front heater motor and resistor pack a few months back....purchased from the club shop.

Best purchase I made for winter. Lovely powerful heating system.
