got a cose come up and it says its the egr,

Its not blanked off as last time i tried the bolts were tight and didnt want to snap them off.

I want to blank it off,and will brave it

But do you need to unplg the wires going to it as well?

got a black oily deposit (not much) on the front pipe for the egr so guess where at 1st it was fine with just the vac pipe being plugged off now there egr is letting some past when off?

Hi I just disconnected the vacuum pipe to the egr left the plug connected. I also managed to fit the front blanking plate easily I will wait till warmer weather to do the fiddly one

No, cos if you unplug them, the ecu will see that theyre not connected and register a fault

ive been waiting to see who said what on this as im not sure myself.
ive blanked and left the lecky and solenoids in tact for the reasons julian says. however im not sure how true this is. kirsty has been running round for years with her egr solenoids and valve totally removed and the lecky left hanging with no ill effects. im not so brave.

could it be that the early ones are ok to remove totally, but the later ones need to be left in and connected.
as i understand the egr solenoids and valve there is an ecu switch signal that switches it on and off, and also a position sensor that confirms the valves position back to the ecu.
