Bongo Fury

Anglesey is not far from us in Cheshire. Whenever I have visited i have always thought "this is nice" but have always felt that there was more too it and that I was missing the best bits.

So........having read lots of threads on these boards.........the question is, what is the best campsite on Anglesey from a point of view of position, facilities, ambience etc, etc.

Any replies very gratefully received.

We camped here a couple of years ago and loved it. Can play around on the river in the Kayaks and also there were places on the bottom field to have open fires. The owners were very friendly and outside their house there would be jams etc homemade you could buy from them.

I agree ukcampsite is a good resource but I trust Bongoers more than the general public

Of the sites Debbie has taken us to I think the best one for location & facilities etc was Penrhyn Bay Caravan Park near Llanfwrog on the west coast. A bit exposed if it's windy but a great location.

On the other side of the island if you want to be near Beuamaris and the Penmon Priory area I'd recommend Kingsbridge Caravan & Camping Park

What sort of things are you looking to do and what's the age group of the people? (doesn't need to be specific just young kids, teenagers etc )

Sprogs are 10 and 14.
We have been to Anglesey a few times as we are not too far away but really what I am after is what is the very best campsite, hopefully near a good beach and not too busy but with good facilities. Also what is the best beach on the island??

I've not stopped on many campsites on Anglesey but can link you to two I have stopped at which were good.

Beaches there's lots, if you go to the Anglesey Coastal Path you could do the lot, it's only 125 miles

but seriously there's so many to choose from so I'll tell you my favourite

closed at the moment as they are setting up a Trim Trail

in the forest but should be open from Easter

you can also walk across to Llanddwyn Island which is a fantastic place

there's a lovely campsite not far away called The White Lodge

another nice campsite is Y Fronydd,

again friendly, nice facilities but off the beaten track, no walking to the local pub

That's probably not much help but if you see anything you think you'd like to go and see I can point you in the right direction, so much to see on Anglesey I never know where to start....or stop
