New Battery what type?

Like RichardP (another Richard another non-starter problem). i jump started yesterday and thought I had sorted it, but dosen't start today. I have an N Reg 2.5 diesel Turbo. I have tried the 'wait for the click' trick but doesn't seem to work. A friend seems to think that the battery is probably the original one - 17 years old. If I do need a new battery what type should I buy and where is the best place to buy it from (not in Bongo shop). Thanks Richardbongo

This is the battery that I currently have in my 1998 2.5TD ( They are called Asia Car Batteries). You can get them from this firm on next day delivery. You can get suitable equivalent batteries from a number of different companies on next day delivery, every Bongo owner seems to have their own favourite.

Lot of folk use Bosch S4 335 from Euro Car Parts. See here for info:

http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/view ... t=+Battery

They are always doing special offers and sometimes you get 25% off which brings it down to £75 inc free delivery. I think the current offer is 15% off which is still a good price as you get 4 year warranty.

This model fits diesel and V6 and should also fit the 2 litre as I believe the fittings are identical:

Bought new battery, fitted it and it still won't start. Not confident or technical enough to start investigating glow plugs, solenoids, etc, so I'll have to get someone out. Convinced by mechanically-minded friend that the battery must be at fault as it was probably a min 10 years old (he's gone quiet on me!) could be that I've wasted money on battery...
