They were not the cheapest available. They were not genuine Mazda.
Can you fit a ball joint incorrectly?
PS. Both are cracked.

Thanks for the warning.
I will have to rethink my policy of starting my pre- MoT work four weeks before submitting it!

Yikes - they look like they've had 3 years use not 3 weeks. I'd say you have very good grounds for requesting a full refund from the supplier as they are clearly not fit for purpose.

Jeepers they looked like mine after god knows how many years, on the positive side is quite easy to replace rubbers now we know mazda do them, the lead I was following turned out to be a dead end and pointless

Warranty replacement pair to be sent out tomorrow. I'll go with a full replacement this time and perhaps just rubbers if there's a next. It's a little extra hassle to drop the entire wishbone and get them pressed out and in, might cost me a tenner or two...

I'd be tempted to just do rubbers and keep the balljoints in case you need them. No pressing required.

I'm hearing a crick from somewhere when I list. I don't know if it's the balljoints, but if I'm being sent a brand new pair under warranty, then they're going to go in as-is.

Did you grease your wishbone rubbers and only tighten them up when the van was on the ground other than that drop links roll bar brackets then balljoints....I think balljoints seem to last the longest of all things

Yep, did that. Might be inner ball joints on the steering...
