Hi can anyone advise please?
Can anyone tell me why my clock and radio lights go dim when i press the brake and the dial/speedo lights get brighter, also the car seems to think the head lights are on when the break pedal is depressed as the warning bleep goes off when i open the door without the keys in the ignition? Is it anything to worry about?
It's a Ford Freda 2.5 petrol.
Cheers

Try checking out Earthing point 7 and 3 at the drivers side under the dashboard see the diagram below for 7;

and for earth point 3

It very much sounds like an earthing problem, so if it isn't one of the two above check out the Earth points for the brake lights ( as in above diagram 4 and 11) and also make sure all your other lights are working as expected;

This is a stab in the dark, but I had a similar problem with an Astra once.
You could also put your foot on the brake, take the keys out of the ignition and the engine would continue running. It only stopped when I released the brake.
The answer to the problem?
A brake light bulb had blown a week earlier and the garage fitted the wrong one. Put the correct one in and issue fixed.
