Hi all,

With winter coming, my mind has moved to jobs to do on Bertie before next season, so first question coming up!!

Our conversion has CBE units managing the electrickery (hookup, split charging etc), but I like the way that the Willinton split charger units seems to include wiring to reroute the circuits for the blinds, interior lights and radio to the leisure battery from the switched ignition circuit. As the CBE set up does everything except that bit already, I'm thinking it may be possible to replace the in-line 20A fuse between the LB and the CBE with a new 6 way fuse block, using one way to continue the circuit to the CBE that was there already, and the rest to provide the connections to the LB for the blinds etc. It feels right, but I would certainly appreciate any comments / help ("don't be daft", "won't work", "done it, beware of...")!!

A guy called pipkin worked out how to make changes in the fusebox using jumpers, which is what the willinton kit does. There may be a factsheet on it, or have a search for old posts.

On the assumption that the charger has a current trip or internal fuse, then the "in-line" fuse should be close to the battery, in which case there is no problem in re-wiring it so that one fuse in say a block of 6 is fed from the battery, the other end is common to all the fuses and the feed to to the charger and then the remaining 5 fuses can be for additional feeds using a loom similar to the way Willinton has implemented it with 4 wires used to pickup the feeds in the existing fuseblock.

Off the top of my head the parts you need to go into the original fusebox are 3.8mm spades or whatever the less common smaller spade size is. You need a good ratchet crimper to make them off as with any lectrickery on a vehicle.

Geoff, I think you're saying that the common supply for the accessory fuses is effectively already protected by the fuse between the LB and the CBE unit - is that right, and is there a reason for that? (Hope that's understandable!!)

That looks perfect in fact! I'm sure I didn't see that on the Willinton pages when I was looking for alternatives, but if I didn't have my glasses on... One duly ordered!
