Waterside House campsite on Ullswater is lovely:
http://www.watersidefarm-campsite.co.uk/ - right on the shore of the lake, great facilities and only a 10 min walk into Pooley Bridge where there are three nice pubs.
On the other side of the Lakes, Church Stile in Nether Wasdale is also nice:

We've not wild camped (yet!) so can't help there, but would be interested in this too.

We've had a few good weekends at the Camping and Caravanning Club site at Eskdale - nice people, good shop, stunning location and a couple of decent pubs in walking distance - you don't have to be a member.

I second Waterside brilliant site friendly owners, but it will be closed now I think, you could try 'The Quiet site' also just off Ullswater
if it's too cold you could always try Glamping in one of their camping pods....

If you're going to Wast water there is a large parking area on the right just before you get to the Wasdale Head Inn. During the day it's used by walkers and climbers but I have stayed overnight several times. There are public toilets very close by, and the pub is excellent.

not wild camping but a site....but basic, cheap and beautiful and wont be at all busy in November. Stonethwaite campsite...south of Keswick & derwent water and just left after Rosthwaite. Just be careful on the long rough track into site. The best place to stay in the lakes in my humble opinion
